ERG Project – Ea(s)t Lombardy

ERG is the acronym for the European Region of Gastronomy, international project for the development of the continent’s best areas of gastronomy. The founding regions are: Marseille-Provence, Lombardy East, Riga-Gauja, Brabant, Minho, Aarhus, Catalonia, Malta and Sibiu-Transylvania.
Objective of the project is the interaction between culture, tourism and gastronomy by highlighting distinctive food cultures, educating for better health and sustainability and stimulating gastronomic innovation.
East Lombardy consists of the provinces of Bergamo, Brescia, Cremona and Mantua united as one big tourist destination with a strong alliance between artistic and natural heritage and culinary tradition.

A territory of excellence, with areas of great tourist attraction: the art cities of absolute value (Bergamo, Mantova), Lake Garda, Franciacorta and the wine and flavor routes, castles, UNESCO sites, mountain destinations for winter and summer sports.

Excellence stands also for food and wine: 11 by “Slow Food” protected products, 25 DOP and IGP, 126 PAT, 25 wines DOCG, DOC and IGT and 22 award winning restaurants listed in the Michelin Guide 2016, including two 3-star and 10 of the best restaurants mentioned in the Gambero Rosso guide.
During the whole “gastronomic” year many food & culture activities are planned in the region and make it worth a visit. www.eastlombardy.it
